Scarecrow is a psychological horror where a farmer’s obsession and pride overwhelm him when a crow threatens the purity of his prized pumpkin and to deter it, he is driven to insanity and is absorbed by his obsession.
It is a cautionary tale about someone becoming so fixated on their highest points of life that they begin to neglect the pillars holding them up.

After discussions with the director we both came up with a direction we wanted to take this film with the sound design we wanted to make something that reflected the mental breakdown of the farmer.
Through the visuals the farmer has a paper texture that gets more crumbled as the film progresses to show the progression of his mental breakdown. Musically and through sound I wanted to show this too.
So in the film the chords change from Major to Minor to Dissonant, an unstable type of chord whose idea is to let the audience feel the farmers breakdown as they watch.
Every part of the Sound Design was considered with a purpose, the sound design was made in the subjective perspective of the farmer.
Where sounds are not as they are, but as the farmer hears them (for example the crows caw later sounds like laughter.)
Most of the sounds in this film were recorded by me specifically for this film, I then edited each sound and placed them within the mix.
