This was for one of my assignments where I had to make a 3D environment. For this task I chose to make an environment using the old Playstation 1 (PS1) style graphics, low poly and low resolution textures.
I used mulitple techniques to crush high resolution textures into pixelated but sharp low resolution ones, and create a pixel snapping effect where pixels would ‘jitter’ and move on their own as the camera moved, to mimic the old PS1 graphic error called ‘Vertex Snapping’.
This effect was an unwanted consequence due to the limited hardware of the PS1 but now is a charming nostalgic quality embedded into a lot of childhoods.
For me I had to manually make this effect on purpose.
